How to Use |
Our non-combustible incense is hand-crafted and does not contain potassium
nitrate as a burning agent. Instead, we make use of an herbal substances that
helps our incense burn without the use of self-activating charcoal.
Moxa (Mugwort Leaf).
Here's an article by David Oller where you can learn more about making incense.
Moxa is a Japanese term which means "burning herb". The plant, Artemisia vulgaris, is used
for medicinal purposes in herbal concoctions, and externally in the form of Moxa. Here's a good article
about this wonderful
medicinal.
In our practice we use Moxa regularly. The application, known as
Moxibustion, is very effective in the treatment of pain, particularly when treating pain of a chronic
nature. Although through our family in the martial arts, we have learned to use it for acute injuries as well.
Moxa burns well and the fragrance is very soothing to the spirit. Our use of this herb then, serves a dual function,
a burning agent and an aromatic ingredient.
The following images should give you a good idea on how to use our incense. No doubt you will find your
own ways including charcoal blocks..
